Where to buy, price, release date and more explored

Two of the most iconic footwear brands, Birkenstock and Manolo Blahnik, collaborated for their first collection in March, which launched on March 14, 2022. The collection was an instant hit and sold out within hours. Today, the iconic and dynamic duo returns with another collection, less sophisticated and more playful.

The brands’ collaborative efforts have resulted in four additional makeovers on some of the iconic silhouettes, including Boston Clogs, Rodra Sandal and the Arizona sandals. The collection is set to release next month, June 23, 2022, on Birkenstock’s 1774 official e-commerce website and at Manolo Blahnik.

The first drop of the Manolo Blahnik x Birkenstock collaboration centered around the glamorous, more sophisticated crystal buckles and embellished velvet version of Birkenstock’s classic Boston and Arizona shoe styles.

For the second drop, the duo are focusing on more offbeat, reasonably priced designs, targeting young girls and teens. In a press release, Blahnik expressed his excitement that his brand is doing well thanks to the combination,

“Young girls are buying our shoes like crazy. It’s extraordinary. I am really happy.

The designer then spoke about the very successful launch of the first Manolo Blahnik x Birkenstock collection, which sold out quickly and had long waiting lists,

“There are so many people everywhere wearing them.”

The second drop should be just as successful because it’s more affordable and more summery. The second drop of the iconic collaboration focuses on PVC materials and polka dot prints on Birkenstock’s three classic silhouettes – Arizona, Boston and Rodra sandals.

The first style in the collaborative collection is the Arizona Sandals silhouette from Birkenstock, which will be offered in two colorways, namely black and white. The Arizona sandals come in a PVC style and are inspired by Blahnik’s previous designs.

Blahnik, in the aforementioned press release, discusses the use of PVC materials in the 1970s for his shoe lines,

“I remember they weren’t very successful back then. But PVC has become strong.

The Arizona sandals feature transparent PVC straps on the black and white insoles, respectively. The straps feature similarly colored buckles, matching the insoles. Branding is added with “Manolo Blahnik for Birkenstock” lettering on the insole linings.

The black and white colorways of the PVC-style Arizona shoes will retail for $470.

The second style in the collection is the Rodra sandals, which feature a polka dot pattern. Blahnik himself is known for using polka dot patterns on his iconic designs such as the BB Pump and Campari. He now uses his signature style on the Rodra sandal from Birkenstock.

The Rodra sandal features calf hair on the straps to give you a soft and comfortable fit all day long. The insole last is covered with an all over black polka dot white base as opposed to the insole liners. The straps use a white hue as a base with an all over black polka dot pattern. The rodra sandals will retail for $510.

Finally, the collaborative collection will also feature Bikenstock’s Boston clogs in a similar polka dot print. The upper of the Boston clogs is made of calf hair and uses black and white polka dot patterns. The Boston clogs will retail for $540.

The Manolo Blahnik x Birkenstock drop 2 will be available on the official e-commerce sites of both brands on June 23, 2022.
