Katie Holmes coordinated in black and white when she attended Christian Siriano’s grand opening of his The Collective West store in Westport, Conn., on Wednesday.

The store offers home furnishings, art, and clothing. Holmes, a friend of Siriano, came to encourage the designer’s latest adventure, accompanied by Coco Rocha, Debra Messing and Laura Linney.

Holmes made a bold entrance in an oversized button-up dress with a pronounced collar and a striking boxy shape. The style had rounded short sleeves that flared with a scalloped edge. The bottom was a boxy skirt with a small slit in the front, with the dress giving off an easy, summery quality due to the lightweight white fabric. The “Giver” actress donned an angular black bag with silver hardware, keeping the outfit casual and comfortable.

Holmes livened up the celebration with the addition of cool sandals in black and white to match the color scheme. The strappy thongs had black and white strands that crisscrossed over her feet, coming to fasten around the ankles as the straps came together to create a thong-toe silhouette. The design coordinates well with neutral colors and also matches the angular nature of some of Holmes’ flagship accessories. Strappy shoes are a clear winner, completing the outfit by combining design elements and colors to tie the whole thing together.
