Designer Tishari Williams brings business into fashion | News
He is said that nothing makes a woman more beautiful than the belief that she is just that: beautiful. And making spectacular contributions to this refreshing approach to life in exquisite ways is TWOriginals. Flair invited fashion founder and designer Tishari Williams to walk our ‘red carpet’ and tell us more about her journey into what she defines as renaissance couture.
The innovative designer embarked on this exciting venture into the fashion industry seven years ago and has been enjoying the fruits of her labor ever since.
“From an early age, I was always intrigued by how clothes were made and how styles were created. Growing up seeing my late grandmother as a seamstress kind of fueled my passion. Every day came a new love for fashion and all its conveniences,” Williams explained.
It’s no wonder this fashionista has sewn a life beyond the fabric, designing her way to be her own boss. Williams pursued her Associate’s Degree in Fashion Design at the National Training Agency GARMEX HEART Trust (NTA) in Kingston and earned certification as a Fashion Designer and Sandal and Slipper Maker.
Based in Mandeville, Manchester, TWOriginals offers fashionable, high-end quality and affordable clothing and accessories designed for all occasions and for all ages and sizes. The brand’s name reflects the designer’s bold initials, and this agent of change continues to make it his mission to deliver only original styles.
Famous for taking us back to our roots by showcasing a plethora of jaw-dropping looks of African Ankara print designs, shipped direct from Nigeria, Williams creates outside of fashion, playing with vibrant color designs. She also explores classic shades of black (a staple of the little black dress) and white. Her bestsellers include designer Ankara midi and maxi skirts, designer wristlet clutches and fanny packs with matching face masks, designer men’s shirts and designer infinity dresses. She even took style liberties to make bridal dreams a reality by providing wedding dresses for the super special occasion.
“Keeping one step ahead is very important. Fashion is probably the fastest growing industry. What was hot yesterday isn’t hot today, and that’s been a lot of challenges, so I have to constantly be at the top of my game, readjusting through the seasons, and looking ahead to see what might be the best. next trend. she explained.
An avid follower of in-store shopping, the interactive displays, sampling stations and expert advice from the fashion consultant herself and other staff are second to none, providing a surreal browsing and fitting experience but tangible. However, the entrepreneur is well aware that the nature of business is changing given the impact of the pandemic. This has spawned a greater impact online. Williams also noticed a shift in trends.
“The shift from more formal office attire to business casual attire and working from home has led to lower sales of clothing, shoes and even high heels. The pandemic has accelerated this trend as people seek out more casual and versatile clothing. Masks became a new trend, so I tapped into that niche as well,” Williams said.
The print and pattern guru, who puts her passion into her work, remains determined to offer her clients “outfits [that] are guaranteed to give off the glamorous look, leaving heads turned at any occasion”.
