Best sliders for men 2022: Comfortable and stylish slip-ons
Summer slip-ons can be an afterthought in a country where it rains much of the year. But, when the sun comes out to play, it’s always nice to get some fresh air on your feet, wiggle your toes, and enjoy the weather. The best shoes for work are flip flops: just slip them on and you’re ready to relax at home, walk to the beach, or head out for a leisurely stroll on vacation.
Given their close relationship to the sandal and the flip-flop, it’s hard to imagine an era before sliders. In fact, the slider as we know it today has only been around for about 60 years: Adidas invented the Adilette sandal in the 1960s for the German soccer team. Now the slide has cult status: Celebrities from Jonah Hill to David Beckham have been seen walking the streets in their favorite pair of slides since at least the early 2010s, with the trend originally taking off in the 1990s. 1990, and their popularity has not diminished.
Below, you’ll find a brief guide on how to buy the best slide shoes, what types of features to look for, and how much you should spend. Scroll a little further down the page and whether your priorities are fashion, water sports or post-exercise recovery, you’ll find a list of our proven favourites.

How to choose the best sliders for you
Why choose slides rather than sandals or flip flops?
A slide or slider is the evolved flip-flop: it’s usually a summer shoe with a comfortable rubber sole and a single thick strap that covers the instep. Sliders are simple and convenient – less hassle than a strappy sandal and they fit more securely than a flip-flop. They’re ideal for young children who struggle with laces or wade through flip-flops, and they’re the perfect slip-on shoes for adults when the weather is nice. In fact, you can even see people wearing sliders when the weather isn’t so good; the sock and slider combo has become something of a fashion statement in itself.
The cursors also gain in comfort. Flip flops generally lack cushioning in the arch or heel and can cause foot problems with regular use – they can damage nerve endings due to overexertion to keep them on your foot, and the Y-shaped strap can rub uncomfortably between the toes. Sliders, on the other hand, tend to have a thick, wedge heel and arch support to improve comfort, and pleasantly lack pressure points – which is why you’ll find plenty of athletic brands marketing their sliders as “recovery” shoes, designed to be the perfect, comfortable post-workout shoe.
If you weren’t already sold, slides are also very popular. Over the past decade, sliders have become something of a fashion statement, with even high fashion brands like Gucci and Versace jumping on the trend.
How much should I spend?
Everyday sliders sell for around £20-40. More comfortable or sportier options with sculpted soles tend to be more expensive, while cheaper sliders under £20 tend to have flatter footbeds which can compromise all-day comfort. If, however, you’re more interested in being on the cutting edge of fashion, you can spend three figures on exotic sliders from a variety of in-demand fashion brands – it’s entirely up to you.
